Each year, the 12U Somers Red Storm Travel Baseball team embarks on a memorable trip to Cooperstown Dreams Park, near the Baseball Hall of Fame. During the week-long tournament from July 9-15, they competed alongside 94 teams from 22 U.S. states and Canada. While Coach Greg Fitts emphasizes that the trip's value extends beyond wins, highlighting camaraderie, friendships, and life lessons, the Red Storm showcased remarkable gameplay. They secured a 3-2 record in pool play, defeating teams from Tennessee, Michigan, and Georgia. Despite losses to Maryland and California teams, they maintained a .500 record at 3-3. Coach Fitts commended their defence, team spirit, and impressive nine home runs across six games. Standout players included Chris Azimi, who hit five home runs and maintained a .714 batting average. As the tournament culminated with the championship, fireworks, and closing festivities, each player was honoured with Cooperstown rings and induction into the Little Majors Hall of Fame. Reflecting the team's sentiment, many expressed a desire to extend their time at Cooperstown.
