Championship game opening pitch was thrown by Drew Blane of the Bloomingdale Patriots from Illinois
A week prior to making the trip to Cooperstown, Drew was struck in the face by a line drive while competing in a local baseball game in Illinois. It was not until five minutes from Cooperstown Dreams Park that a serious injury surfaced, causing massive bleeding from his nose. He was rushed to the local Cooperstown hospital and underwent nose surgery Tuesday morning. He was unable to compete all week. bud did get to throw out the opening pitch for the championship game to his father and coach, Mike Blane.
